An Eclectic Birthday

Just wanted to share in some of the fun I had for my first Dominican birthday yesterday afternoon - we packed up 3 cars and a pick-up truck of patients, friends, food and drinks from Babs' house and headed to the beach for swimming, super and cake. It was great to see the smiles on the faces of some of the folks who've been at the house longer term for medical treatment as they got out for some fresh air. It was also great to relax with the friends that help and work at the house on a regular basis and have become like family. So, we were quite a mix - Haitian, Dominican, American - sick, well, young, old - I'm just glad my birthday proved a good excuse for such an outing!

Yes, even in the DR I managed to pull off a chocolate cake

That looks like the best birthday party ever - one like your mother and I would have enjoyed!!

The pictures were great. I'm glad that Jane was able to be there also. Happy Birthday - again.
Love, Lorrie
