Last month I finally had the experience of traveling to Haiti with some Dominican friends. They make up a music group called Batey 0 (zero) whose music is a fusion of traditional Dominican and Haitian roots with modern electrical guitar and bass. It's a sign of their belief in the common roots of the island, bringing people together by re-connecting and raising awareness about the injustices committed against all. The following are photos of a festival they participated in in the rural town of Payan, Haiti, a concert they gave is Tomasen, Port au Prince, and a view from the back of the truck - our transport on the way to Payan...

Thanks for the updates. I'm glad things are going well, and these experiences are so rich for you and all those involved. Seems like a great program, and great place to be.
Things are going well here. I'll be teaching in a women's prison this summer. We have good community life here at Isaiah House.
